New London, NH-Don G. Ferraro, 78 , of Page Road, died Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH with his family around him.
He was born in Boulder, CO on July 9, 1946 the son of Frank D. and Alice A. (Akre) Ferraro.
He graduated from Boulder High School and attended the University of CO. Don served in the US Navy based in Newport, RI. After discharge, he lived in Portsmouth, RI while working for Raytheon. In 1970, he returned to Boulder, CO, where he worked for the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), first as a technician then working into the position of Electrical Engineer and moved to Louisville, CO in 1976. He retired from NCAR in 2005.
Don moved to New London in 2005 and was a member and Past Noble Grand of Heidelberg Lodge #92 IOOF of New London. He was a very active member of The First Baptist Church of New London having served on various boards and committees. Don enjoyed fishing, traveling, reading and counted cross stitch.
His first wife, Kathleen (Younger) Ferraro, died in 1995. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Janet (Hallefas) Eckensberger Ferraro of New London, NH; a son and his wife, Scot and Lara Ferraro of Coto de Caza, CA; a daughter and her husband, Lisa and Mike Merelli of Victor, MT; two grandchildren, Jonathon and Tessa; three great grandchildren; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Cynthia and Aaron Snay of New London, NH, Dawn and Francis Hahn of Flourtown, PA and Megan and Edward Unger III of Medfield, MA; five step grandchildren, Lauren, Jason, Erin, Madelyn and Edward “Wes”; a sister and her husband, Ruby and Juan Villanueva of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico: a brother and his wife, Lee and Pam Ferraro of La Veta, CO; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at The First Baptist Church, 461 Main Street, New London, NH with services conducted by Heidelberg Lodge #92 IOOF and military honors. Burial will be in West Part Cemetery, New London.
